Typhoon YAGI, one of the strongest typhoons in the past 30 years, made landfall in the East Sea, causing significant damage in many areas, especially in Hai Phong. However, thanks to thorough preparation and timely response, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park (IP) minimized damage, ensuring the safety of businesses and quickly restoring operations after the typhoon.
Proactive Storm Response – Minimizing Damage
As soon as information about Typhoon No. 3 was released, the management board of Nam Cau Kien IP swiftly implemented storm prevention measures under the direct guidance of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, the People’s Committee of Hai Phong, and the People’s Committee of Thuy Nguyen District. Shinec Joint Stock Company, the investor of Nam Cau Kien IP, issued detailed guidelines to help businesses within the park protect their assets and facilities.
Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, General Director of Shinec Joint Stock Company, shared: “We implemented comprehensive storm prevention measures early on, including securing factories, reinforcing trees, and inspecting the drainage system. Thanks to this thorough preparation, the damage caused by Typhoon No. 3 at Nam Cau Kien IP was kept to a minimum.”
Light Damage, Operations Quickly Restored
After the storm, damage assessments at Nam Cau Kien IP showed that most of the impact was on fallen trees and some minor damage to roofs and ceilings. However, these issues did not significantly affect the production activities of businesses in the area. Many businesses were able to resume operations within just 2-3 days.
Some businesses, such as Dongbang Vina Co., Ltd., and Viet Metal Joint Stock Company, experienced minor damage, such as broken windows or loose roofing. Gola Lion Webbing Vina Company only sustained damage to trees. Meanwhile, Vanderleun Vietnam Co., Ltd. reported minimal damage to their logo and some water leakage in certain areas, but these did not disrupt major production activities.
